JAZZ YOGA AT THE JAZZ PARK VISITOR CENTER

YOGA AND MEDITATION ACCOMPANIED BY LIVE JAZZ PIANO MUSIC  

INDOORS AT THE JAZZ PARK VISITOR CENTER  IN THE FRENCH MARKET DISTRICT–DUTCH ALLEY  

EVERY SATURDAY YEAR-ROUND AT 10:00 A.M.

 

Free and Open to the Public—All Levels Welcome   Classes are INDOORS  at   The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park in Dutch Alley,  at 916 N. Peters Street,  behind A Tisket A Tasket Bookshop at 910 Decatur Street.

Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat to Jazz Yoga & Meditation: Sun Salutations Gentle Hatha Flow. This free yoga class will feature instructor Susan Landry and meditational jazz piano by Peter Nu. Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor. There are a minimum number of complimentary yoga mats available for those who need them.   

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:  Susan Landry began practicing yoga in 2004.   She completed her Yoga Teacher Training Certification at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts in June 2006.  She has taught yoga for the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department, Miraval  Life and Balance Resort, and at Mountain Waves in Flagstaff, AZ.  Susan continues to study with Brahmani and Jashoda (www.journeyintoyoga.com) and  Rama Jyoti Vernon, Eric Schiffman, and Shiva Rae have also inspired her along the way.  She also practices Kharma  and Bhakti yoga, which are included on her path.  She is certified to teach yoga to both children and adults.

Angler’s Royale hosted by J’s Seafood Dock

The third annual ANGLER’S ROYALE hosted BY J’S SEAFOOD DOCK IS AN EVENT FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO ENJOY!

FISHERMEN MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT (email theanglersroyale@gmail.com to register), BUT ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND AND ENJOY THE FESTIVITIES! There will be raffles, live music, and plenty of good food available all day!  The Farmers and Flea Markets are open at 9 a.m. and J’s Seafood Dock will be serving up their regular menu plus offering special dishes and discounts to locals!

FRENCH MARKET FARE HOSTED BY SOUTHERN FOOD AND BEVERAGE MUSEUM

 No French Market Fare on Sunday, April 13 and Sunday, April 20

Due to the French Quarter Fest and Easter Sunday, there will be no French Market Fares on these dates. Please join SoFAB when we resume the series on Sunday, April 27.

Every Sunday at 2 PM, the French Market Corporation and the Southern Food and Beverage Museum will team up to host a series of free programs that highlight the cuisine and culinary culture of New Orleans. Expect to see cooking demos, food conversations, and musical entertainment throughout the year at the French Market Fare stage in the Farmers Market,  located between Ursulines and Governor Nicholls Streets.

French Market Fare is held from March to November.

Peters Street.  Check in at front desk to register for the Wednesday tour and get a sticker. **** For the Monday tours (Jazz Park is closed) just arrive 5-10 minutes prior to tour at the French Market arch at Ursulines and N. MONDAY 10 A.M. TOURS BEGIN AT THE FRENCH MARKET ARCH AT URSULINES–NO SIGN UPS REQUIRED

French Market Tour takes participants through the entire 6 block area, from the Farmers Market to Jackson Square. Learn about the history of the French Market and get a sense of the entire riverside district, including landmarks, living and historical legends, plus gain some lagniappe about where to eat, shop, and experience the best of this corner of the French Quarter. Mondays at 10am. Meets at the French Market arch on Ursulines St. (between N. Peters and Decatur).
 

WEDNESDAY 1:30 P.M. TOURS BEGIN AT THE JAZZ PARK VISITOR CENTER IN DUTCH ALLEY—SIGN UPS REQUIRED (FREE)


Food & Music Tour starts with a short documentary film inside the Jazz Park Visitor Center, then transitions to a river view from Galvez Restaurant’s balcony, as you learn about New Orleans’ culinary and music culture. Culminates with a stroll through our lively Farmers Market, to end at the Old U.S. Mint. Wednesdays at 1:30pm. Meets at the Jazz Park Visitor Center in Dutch Alley, located behind “A Tisket A Tasket Bookshop” at 910 Decatur St.

These free walking tours are led by James Geraghty, a locally licensed guide.  Approx. 40 mins. Tours are complimentary; no tips solicited.
