Our tour engages all of your senses – including your sense of humor and history – as you stroll through America’s oldest public market.

Your complimentary tour kicks off with a brief documentary film, produced by the Jazz National Historical Park. And then, after taking in a view of the Mississippi River, hear about the early musical ingredients of jazz and famous jazz performers. Later, from our performance stage and other fun stops in the French Market, consider the legacies of Congo Square, Storyville, Jazz Funerals, and Mardi Gras Indians. Your tour also includes an exploration of New Orleans’ significant influences on opera and rock & roll.

Continue to our Farmers Market for a look at our food history and traditions. Find out where to go for delicious gumbo, jambalaya, pralines, po’ boys, and muffulettas.
