Join us at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park (916 Decatur Street) for award winning children’s musician and author Johnette Downing. Johnette will perform a concert and sing along especially suited for young people from Pre-school to 3rd grade, all with a Louisiana theme.

Book signing to directly follow at A Tisket A Tasket Book Shop, adjacent to the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park!

Singer/songwriter and award winning children’s author, Johnette Downing presents monthly concerts (45 minutes) at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park in Dutch Alley at 11:00 a.m., with book signings afterwards at noon at A Tisket A Tasket Bookshop. www.johnettedowning.com.  School groups welcome. Call 504-589-4841 to reserve seating.  The Park has approx 65 seats.

Monthly music series featuring local youth musicians on select Sundays each month through September at The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Visitor Center.

July 8th -12:00 noon-1:30pm: Uptown Jazz Orchestra.  Under the direction of trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, UJO consists of Louisiana native musicians who range in experience from young students to respected veterans. www.delfeayomarsalis.com.

August 12th -12:00 noon-1:30pm: The Greater New Orleans Suzuki Forum, founded in 1978 by violinist Mrs. Doris Hansen to support and promote the suzuki teaching method in the Greater New Orleans Area. The Forum represents families with children studying the bass, cello, flute, guitar, harp, piano, viola, and violin.

The Jazz Park will be hosting a lecture on the History of the French Market at noon, featuring Liz Williams (President of the Southern Food and Beverage Museum), Greg Lambousy (Director of Collections, LA State Museum), and John Magill (Curator for the Historic New Orleans Collection).

Starting on November 7th the Jazz Park will be hosting Sun Salutations Gentle Hatha Flow yoga sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings!  Bring comfortable clothing and your own yoga mat.  This FREE yoga class will feature instructor Susan Landry and meditational jazz piano by Peter Nu.  Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in and meet the instructor.  Free and open to the public.

Starting on November 8th the Jazz Park will begin hosting weekly film screenings at 11am and 3pm on Thursdays.  All films screened will have a jazz theme.
