The French Market and the Southern Food & Beverage Museum team up to host a series of freeprograms that highlight the cuisine and culinary culture of New Orleans. The series includes cooking demos, food conversations and musical entertainment.

The race will begin and end at the French Market, with racers beginning at the iconic French Market arch, speedwalking down N. Peters, turning at Barracks in front of the Old U.S. Mint, then coming up French Market Place to end alongside the Farmers Market. Awards will be given at the Farmers Market stage. Costumed characters such as Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, French mimes, and French maids will be part of the Francophile fun.
The Abita Springs Opry performs a mix of bluegrass, folk and traditional jazz with various musicians.

Too much classic New Orleans food weighing you down? Muriel’s Jackson Square has decided to help guests meet their personal health and wellness goals by partnering with Molly Kimball, a registered dietitian with Ochsner’s Elmwood Fitness Center, to offer Eat Fit NOLA menu items. “Our Eat Fit menu reflects a healthier version of many of our classic New Orleans dishes,” states Gus Martin, Muriel’s Executive Chef. “We worked especially hard to keep the integrity of the dishes without losing any of the flavor.” Join us as Chef Gus prepares two of these delicious and nutritious dishes.

12 noon “The Gravy” cooking demonstration & conversation will feature lentil soup prepared by Truth Universal, a locally based Hip Hop artist. “The Gravy” is a monthly cooking and conversation series held the first Monday of every month that features local musicians who cook, hosted by Offbeat Magazine writer and cookbook author Elsa Hahne, who pens articles for the magazine by the same name.
