The annual St. Nicholas Day Fair is always held around St Nicholas’ Feast Day (Dec 6th) and is a holiday event for kids, New Orleans Style! Meet old St. Nick…and secondline with him through Dutch Alley as a start to the day!

Held entirely in Dutch Alley, St Nicholas Day Fair includew live music, interactive craft booths to make holiday puppets, ornaments, hats, scarves, cards, and more, plus  a petting zoo, costumed characters, live music, and miniature golf!

And of course, St. Nick is there all afternoon to visit and take photos with!

 

ACTIVITIES AND LIVE MUSIC: FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

 10 a.m. Petting Zoo, Mini Golf, Craft Booths, and Photo Booth open up!

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Craft booths where kids can “make and take” holiday ornaments, scarfs, paper bag hats, bracelets, stockings, and more!  Hands-on holiday fun!

11:00 to 11:30 a.m.  Saint Nick Secondline through Dutch Alley and the Farmers/Flea Market with Lagniappe Brass Band–St Nick arrives!

 12 noon  Johnette Downing performs at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion

12:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Facepainter Irina

12:00 p.m. FrenchQuartour Kids offers a complimentary French Market District “Christmastime in New Orleans” themed tour that includes a visit to the Mississippi River (just behind the French Market District) to talk about Papa Noel and the lighting of the bonfires, a stop at the fleur de lis tree near Cafe du Monde, and more!  (45 mins)

12:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Hopestone, Inc.’s Amanda LaPlace hosts a screenprinting workshop at a tent across from the Jazz Park

12 noon INDOORS at the Jazz Park:  Join Park Rangers Matt Hampsey and Bruce Barnes with special guests N’Fungola Sibo African Dance & Drum Company for “Spirits of Congo Square”. 

 1:30 to 2:30   Jayna Morgan’s Mistletoe and Stockings Jazz Band at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion

2:00-3:00 p.m.     Navy Band New Orleans Jazz Combo at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion

2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Nari the Christmas Puppeteer performs in Dutch Alley

3:00 to 3:30 p.m.   Delfeayo Marsalis reads his new children’s book “No Cell Phone Day” accompanied by a saxophonist Rex Gregory and bassist Nathan Lambertson inside the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park 

3:30 p.m. FrenchQuartour Kids offers a complimentary French Market District “Christmastime in New Orleans” themed tour (45 mins)

4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Crescent City Lights Youth Theater carolers perform Christmas carols with an accompanist inside the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park

5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Real Love acapella quartet sings holiday “d0 wap” songs beneath the tree at Washington Artillery Park
