FRENCH MARKET’S ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING is a tradition that combines the best of the French Quarter with the best of the season, featuring a full six blocks of garland and lights in the French Market District, plus the lighting of our 27 foot fleur de lis topped tree.

Shop Away in the Vieux Carre events will occur all day long throughout the French Market District and the French Quarter.  For the most current information please visit the FQBA website and Facebook

The Tree Lighting is at 6 p.m. sharp!!!

Look for live music, strolling carolers, and costumed characters throughout the day leading up to the lighting!

 NOV 16TH Shop Away in the Vieux Carre   & FRENCH MARKET TREE LIGHTING

 

  10 a.m. to 11:30 SHOPPING TOUR begins at the tree and takes you to 6 shops throughout the French Market District. Meet store-owners, clothing designers, artists, chefs, and more as you experience a “behind-the-scenes” look at our unique shopping area. Free tour open to the first 15 people, first come, first served.

 

11 a.m. Pedicab “Parade” in partnership with Shop Away in the Vieux Carre. A brass band kicks off the day with holiday tunes, then band members get into pedicabs to go to their sponsored spots throughout the French Quarter

 

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. New Orleans Navy Band Brass Quintet at the Washington Artillery Park

 

1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. New Orleans Navy Brand Brass Band at the Washington Artillery Park

 

12:45 to 2:15  SHOPPING TOUR begins at the tree and takes you to 6 shops throughout the French Market District. Meet store-owners, clothing designers, artists, chefs, and more as you experience a “behind-the-scenes” look at our unique shopping area. Free tour open to the first 15 people, first come, first served.

 

2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Cristina Perez performs Christmas tunes at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion

 

2:30 to 4:00 p.m. SHOPPING TOUR  begins at the tree and takes you to 6 shops throughout the French Market District. Meet store-owners, clothing designers, artists, chefs, and more as you experience a “behind-the-scenes” look at our unique shopping area. Free tour open to the first 15 people, first come, first served.

 

2-3:30  Miss Claudia and the Mistletoes stroll and perform from Dumaine Plaza to The Shops at the Historic Upper Pontalba

 

3:00-4:00 p.m.  Uptown Music Theatre performs songs from recent productions, including GodSpell, Schoolhouse Rock, Broadway Babies, and more! Inside the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park

 

3 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Faubourg Quartet performs beneath the tree at Washington Artillery Park, mezzanine

 

4-5:30  Jayna Morgan’s Mistletoe and Stockings Jazz Band featuring swinging New Orleans holiday tunes at Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion

 

 ****Children’s Activities 4-6 p.m. at Tree**Facepainters, Balloon and Caricature Artists, Stiltwalkers, and St Nick himself!

 

4:45-5:30 p.m. Real Love Do-Wap quartet sings Christmas carols at the tree

 

5:30 p.m. Caroling beneath the tree led by Crescent City Lights Carolers

 

5:45  p.m.  Blessing of the Tree by Very Reverend Phillip G. Landry, VF, rector at St. Louis Cathedral

6 P.M. TREE LIGHTING at Washington Artillery Park

 

 6:05 p.m. Brass band leads carolers from the Tree to the Shops at the Historic Upper Pontalba on Jackson Square for a brief sing-a-long to carols with songsheets for the public from  6:15-6:30 p.m.

 

6:30-7:00 p.m. Brass Band performs holiday tunes, and more!
