Boo Carré Halloween & Harvest Festival

Main activities occur in Dutch Alley & at the Farmers Market

 

TRICK-OR-TREATING

Visit 22 trick or treat “stations” from Jackson Square to the Farmers Market with your Boo Carré trick or treat bag. French Market District shops and vendors will offer candy and other special items from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. while supplies last.

Pick up your complimentary black and orange “Boo Carré” bag and a list of trick or treat stations at the green and white striped tents in Dutch Alley!

CRAFT BOOTHS FOR KIDS TO “MAKE AND TAKE” ITEMS:   Artistic Treats!

Make and take-home Halloween craft stations will be open in Dutch Alley from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., including:

  • Make your own pumpkin masks with Heart of Justus
  • Make your own paper bag hat  with Bev Boulet
  • Decorate a Halloween bag with YA/YA Young Artists, Young Aspirations
  • Make a bead name bracelet with The Organ Grinders
  • Decorate a secondline hanky with Antoinette de Alteriis
  • Make a pumpkin out of coffee filters with AmeriGroup
  • Screenprint with Amanda LaPlaca: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

PETTING ZOO—MINI GOLF—PHOTO BOOTH: ALL FREE! 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rowdy Rascal’s petting zoo is located in the Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion at St. Phillip St.

Partee Rentals miniature golf is under the awning at the corner of St. Phillip and Decatur St.

New Orleans Spacewalk’s inflatable photo booth with Halloween themes and costumes is located in Dutch Alley, across from Galvez Restaurant, who will be selling drinks and treats for all ages from their downstairs lobby next to the Jazz Park Porch.

DUTCH ALLEY ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE:Indoors & Out!

10 A.M.  Spooky secondline procession featuring The Boney Tunes trio of acoustic musicians dressed as skeletons

11 A.M.  African drumming performance and workshop with Seguenon Kone under the tree in Dutch Alley

12 P.M.    Jim and Martha Hession perform Halloween-themed jazz  inside the Jazz Park

12 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Nari the Puppeteer  performs Halloween stories under the tree in Dutch Alley

3 P.M   Johnette Downing performs Louisiana themed kid songs inside the Jazz Park

4:30 P.M.  Spooky secondline featuring Pocket Aces Brass Band with the International School of Louisiana high-stepping stilt walkers. Secondline begins at Washington Artillery Park across from Jackson Square and moves through the District to end at the Flea Market.

11:00 a.m .            LIVE MUSIC              Jubilee Julie Magic Accordion Group: Acoustic Trio

12:00 p.m.            Pie-eating Contests       featuring mini sweet potato pies made by Loretta’s Pralines

1:00 p.m.    Costume Contest                    hosted by The Cupcake Fairies

2:00 p.m.   LIVE MUSIC                Lynn Drury: Mississippi Grit, New Orleans Groove

 3:00 p.m.   Cooking demonstration: Red Gravy Restaurant chef Roseann Melisi Rostoker demonstrates how to make rigatoni pasta with a butternut carbonara, topped with amaretti.  

4:00 p.m.    LIVE MUSIC                         Kelcy Mae: Southern bluegrass and American alt/country
